Chandrakant Sardeshmukh (http://www.darshanam.com)

He started playing the sitar at
the age of 4 and was chosen by world renowned Pandit Ravi Shankar to be
his student at the age of 8. At 20, he was already a professional sitar
player inIndia.
He has performed in
Japan
since 1991. Chandrakant Sardeshmukh has also given performances in
Germany,
Australia
and US. He is music composer and director. He has a Ph.D in Sanskrit
(classical Indian language) and has been a visiting teacher to various
performing arts institutions throughout the world. Born into a family with
ten generations of knowledge in Ayurved (traditional Indian medicine), he
has a strong desire to make each person happy and healthy, so regularly
gives individual and group therapeutic music sessions. After the
successful release of his first CD Pure Joy in 1998 he has released a
series of highly acclaimed CDs.

With the
actual name of Abe Tsugio he comes from the Iwate Prefecture Oushu city.
He joined the Oyama School in 1985. After learning from the Head of
School, Prof. Oyama in 1989 he took the Oyama name and became a certified
teacher and leader in 2000. He is an associate professor at present. He is
a leader of Tsugaru Shamisen performance group ‘Kyogen’ who have played in
many events all over Japan. As a chairman of New Mitsugu Association, he
is keen on guiding students and developing successors

He has studied tabla (Indian percussion) under Pandit Mahapurush
Mishra since 1978. He commenced playing north Indian traditional music in
1981 and has since played various other musical genres. In addition to
performing throughout Japan, he has accompanied several artists in India,
Taiwan and Hong Kong. His performances include those on CDs and TV
commercials as well as radio (NHK, Tokyo FM). He teaches tabla at the
Tokyo Music University and Culture school. Sakasegawa released his first
album called Nigimitama in 2001.
